Unreachable Rio Grande

In the town of Langtry, off of SR 90. We turned down the road because I noticed that we would not be this close to the Mexico border again for a while. Maybe we could see the Rio Grande. The town is small. We stopped in a gift shop. Posted a letter or two. Langtry is famous for some judge who was "the law west of the Pecos" - I'd not heard of judge Roy Bean. But it was a cool, tiny town with collapsing buildings with historical markers in front that they didn't prohibit anyone from walking into, exploring, further damaging - kind of a relief compared to the fervent upkeep of buildings in San Antonio. Don't touch the walls in the Alamo.

The old couple at the Langtry souvenir shop said we wouldn't see the river for all the trees this time of year, but they said we could get closer by driving down to the "second tier" overlooking the gorge, what kind of vehicle are we driving? So I was nervous Yellow wouldn't make it back up the hill - he did. Then I was nervous that Jeff would fall off a cliff - he didn't. I can't help worrying, it's genetic.

  1. What you don't hear Jeff say, because of the wind is, "we could climb down there pretty easily," to which I say "No! We could easily die trying." I get little dramatic...

  2. Yesterday at Fort Williams rescue unit had to retrieve a rock climber who had fallen luckily only 20 feet tho he was 100 feet from top of cliff- report vague on details but fireman ,water extrication team lowered ladders to get him on stretcher to take to hospital. Maybe you are not as dramatic as that label indicates.
